Invasion of Norway
Invasion of Norway-7 month period of no war after invasion of Poland
-April.8 & 9, 1940 Hitler invades Norway and Denmark
-Hitler wanted a base for German U-boats (all Norwegian shipping goes to Britain), which was a major loss for Germany
-Sweden neutral but had friendly steel trade with Germany
-Rudyard Quisling let Germans come into Norway if he is still recognized as leader of Norway (quisling a derogatory word during WWII)

Invasion of the Low Countries-Hitler begins attack on May.10, 1940 on the neutral 'Low Countries'
-Netherlands taken in 4 days
-Belgium taken in 18 day
-Luxembourg taken in 2 days
-British Expeditionary Force (BEF) and France tries to help Belgium but too late
-Low countries tries to use WWI tactics (trench warfare) but Germans were already using offensive attacks

Summary
After invading Norway and Denmark for the benefit as a base for German U-boats, Hitler moved onto the Low countries and easily took over the Netherlands in 4 days, Belgium was taken in 18 days and Luxembourg was taken in 2 days. Even with the assistance of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) and France, Germany was still able to occupy a large chunk of Europe.
