Until the year of 1959, the US supported the corrupt Cuban government which permitted crime groups in America to operate in their country. However, when Fidel Castro took over through a communist revolution, everything changed. Castro immediately sought to reduce American influence on the island. He nationalized American-dominated industries such as sugar and mining. Resulting fro this, America developed a plan to invade the bay of pigs. The invasion of the bay of pigs was to train Cuban operatives to attack with American support. Unfortunately, the invasion was almost immediately a disaster, ash as much as JFK didn't want to abandon Cuba to the communists, he didn't want to start another war. This was the criminals last chance to regain their lost assets. The Cuban missile crisis in 1962 was when high altitude American spy planes discovered that their were Russian nuclear weapons in Cuba. IN response, the Us created a naval blockade to precent Russian spies from entering the region. Thankfully, disaster was avoided. In my opinion I don't think the Cuban missile Crisis played a major role in the assassination of JFK, but the bay of pigs might have. I think that because JFk did not call for air support, it angered several crime groups in Cuba, which built tension and may have lead to his assassination. However, there are many myths surrounding this issue and nothing is for certain.

Into the 1950's the USA still feared the spread of Communism across the world. In 1952, Dwight E. Eisenhower became president and begun the Eisenhower Doctrine to try to stop Communism. This Doctrine was very similar to the Truman Doctrine. Eisenhower declared "to secure and protect the territorial integrity and political independence of such nations, requesting such aid against over armed aggression from any nation controlled by international communism." This begun the Doctrine of Containment which included; OAS, ANZUS, SEATO, and Cento. During this time in America, people were going crazy. They are feared the spread of Communism. This fear is what started McCarthyism. Americans were suspicious of Communism that may be coming from within America. Witchhunts begun and were being led by Senator Joseph McCarthy. This started the period of Paranoia. People were being accused of being communists and once you were wrongfully accused it was near impossbile to prove you weren't. The suggestion of guilt ruined many peoples lives. After WW11 came to an end, the war of ideologies began primarily between the USA and Russia. This was was based on two ideologies that are based at either end of the political spectrum: Communism and Democracy. The USA strived to attain worldwide democracy, and wished that other countries would follow their lead. In essence, they wanted to retrain the spread of communism throughout nations in Europe. To implement their ideas, they used the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan. The Truman Doctrine was a large sum of money given to Greece and Turkey to "help cool the long standing rivalry between them". The Marshall Plan was another one of the US's ideas to help rebuild the European Empire by supplying them with large amounts of money. Hence, both of these tactics implemented by the US was a way to persuade Europe that democracy was the way, and to avoid the spread of communism.
